Set in the year of 2017, Dalit Lawyer Ramnath Kovind has just been elected to the presidency flaring up the age old caste issues in the county. In a small Tamilian village where Poochiyappa lives, he is a lower caste, basket maker hopes for a better future for the orphaned Kumaresan.
The old man works for a sarcastic landlord named Vellappayan (Suruli), who develops a sudden craving for pork and orders Poochiyappa and the pig rearer to arrange and cook a pig for the owner. This was not a good activity and this could hurt the religious sentiments of the community and invite caste based slurs, this was complete violence against the poor old man.
The story of this film is based on the short tale “Varugari” (Fried Meat) by the renowned writer Perumal Murugan, and he is also the script writer for this film.
