Synopsis – Turning Red is an American Computer Animation fantasy comedy film directed by Domee Shi and written by Shi and Julia Cho, and produced by Lindsey Collins under the production house Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios. It stars Rosalie Chiang, Sandra Oh, Ava Morse in the lead roles and Hyein Park, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Orion Lee, Wai Ching Ho, Tristan Allerick Chen, and James Hong as supporting characters. This animated movie was released on 1st March 2022 in EI Capitan Theatre, and 11th March 2022 in the United States.
The music in this film was composed by Ludwig Göransson while the cinematography and editing is handled by Mahyar Abousaeedi & Jonathan Pytko and Nicholas C. Smith & Steve Bloom respectively.
The story of this film is based on a teenager, when she gets too excited, then she converts into a giant red panda due to a hereditary curse. This film is inspired by the director’s (Shi’s) experiences growing up in toronto.
This is the first Pixar film which is solely directed by a woman and the second film to feature on Asian lead character after the movie Up which was released in 2009. The runtime of this film is around 99 minutes and this film was created with a massive budget of $175 million dollars and it has collected almost around $13.4 million dollars.
