Synopsis – Maaran is an Indian Tamil language action, thriller and suspense film written and directed by Karthich Naren. The screenplay and dialogues are co-written by Suhas–Sharfu and Vivek. This film is produced by T. G. Thyagarajan under the production house of Sathya Jyothi Films. This film was released on 11th March 2021 by the web based video streaming service Disney+ Hotstar.
The music in this film is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar while the cinematography and editing is completed by Vivekanand Santhosham, and Prasanna G. K. respectively. The film stars who roped in this film are Dhanush, Malavika Mohanan, Samuthirakani, Smruthi Venkat, and Ramki in the lead roles.
This project was officially announced in February 2020, the Sathya Jyothi Films announced a project with Dhanush. Initially this film was titled as D43, the 43rd film of Dhanush. The principal photography of this film was started from 08th February 2021. Filming took place at various locations of India, specially in Hyderabad some shots are from HITECH City because of the rich architecture of HITEC City. In May 2021, the filming was halted by the covid pandemic guideline restrictions and then the final schedule was begun from July 2021 and completed till October 2021.
The story of this film is based on an honest investigative journalist who does his work with honesty and allegiance. He tells his son Mathimaaran that while honesty is morality, smartness is also needed to keep his family safe while he walks the way of truth. Satyamurthy, father of Mathimaaran is killed, and then Maaran’s mother also died during the birth of her baby child. Then Maaran and his little sister Shweta were raised by their Maternal uncle. The story is more exciting and thriller filled. Available in the theaters now from 11 March 2022.
