Synopsis –
Gangubai Kathiyawadi is an Indian Hindi language crime and drama film based on a biography of Ganga Harjivandas or Gangubai Harjivandas aka Gangubai Kothewali. This movie is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and written by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Utkarshini Vashishtha while the dialogues are written by Prakash Kapadia and Utkarshini Vashishtha. This movie is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada under the production house of Bhansali Production House Pen India Limited. This movie was released on 25th February 2022. Young and Adorable Alia Bhatt and Dashing Ajay Deogan are in the lead roles in this movie. Other star casts who roped in this movie are Vijay Raaj, Shantanu Maheshwari, and Seema Pahwa.
Based on a true story from the book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ written by S. Hussain Zaidi. The fim story is about the rise of a simple girl from Kathiawad who embraces the ways of her destiny and becomes the voice for Women Empowerment. Once again Sanjay Leela Bhasali is back with a bang of power packed performance by Alia Bhatt and Ajay Deogn in the special roles.
The music in this film is composed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali while the lyrics are written by A. M. Turaz, Kumaar, and Bhojak Ashok “Anjam”. The cinematography and editing was done by Sudeep Chatterjee and Sanjay Leela Bhansali respectively.
Initially, the theatrical release of this movie was scheduled to be released on 30th July 2021 but delayed due to the rising cases of coronavirus in the country and the covid pandemic guideline restrictions. And then the final date of the release was scheduled on 16th February 2022. This movie was created with a budget of rupees 100 to 160 crores and the box office collection of this movie was around 186 crore rupees.
